Parent Collaboration

Parent involvement and collaboration in school development and student education is fundamental to the pedagogical approach we value. At every opportunity, parents are invited into classes to share their professional knowledge, understanding and skills. We aim to create collaborations with parents that bolster student knowledge, thinking and connections during units of inquiry. Parents are also invited to join class excursions and parent workshops facilitated to improve parent knowledge and understanding of pedagogical approaches to learning. We believe that a child’s education is massively impacted by the level of parent understanding and involvement in their educational journey.

We have three formal parent groups that support directly with parent communication, organisation and involvement and a member of staff who is the Parent Support Advisor.

The Parent Committee

Our Parent Committee organises community events throughout the year and is led by the Parent Committee president. These invents include halloween celebrations, carnivale, family days and the International Festival. The parent committee raises funds throughout the year and collaborates directly with school teachers and leaders to develop physical and digital environment and resources. Over the years, the parent committee has supported the development of the library, the playgrounds and the gymnasium.

Grade level Parent Representatives

Parents collaborate to nominate and support two parents for each grade level who represents the class at monthly Parent Representatives meetings with the Head Teacher, Administrative Director and Parent Support Advisor. Through continuous communication channels parents and teachers collaborate throughout the year for the benefit of student learning and holistic student welfare.

School Lunch (Mensa) Parent Committee

Our School Lunch Committee collaborates directly with our lunch service provider to provide feedback, taste food, gauge student likes and dislikes and review the school lunch menu throughout the year.

Parent Support Advisor

We have a dedicated teacher who also works as a Parent Support Advisor. The PSA is contactable during a set hour each day and supports with curriculum and logistical queries. They also work to develop parent curriculum understanding and involvement in the educational programme.
